About Amanda & Ashley

Hi! We’re Amanda and Ashley, two travel blogger besties whose mutual love of cats, Lord of the Rings, and (of course) travel has bonded us together for the better part of a decade.

We’re both based in the US—Amanda in Ohio, Ashley in Massachusetts—and combined we’ve visited almost 100 countries across six continents. Several of those countries we’ve explored together, sprinkling our unique brand of wit and whimsy over four continents.

We make a pretty dynamic (and sometimes dramatic) duo, so we decided to start a joint site around a topic close to both our hearts: the day trip! We both enjoy a travel style based on the desire to fit in as much as possible in a destination which means we now excel at squeezing in day trips to all sorts of incredible places.

About Amanda

Amanda is a former journalist-turned-travel blogger based in Cleveland, Ohio who has visited 60+ countries all over the world. She started her first travel blog as a hobby in 2010 and now runs two successful travel blogs full time—A Dangerous Business and Cleveland Traveler. She has won several awards for her writing and storytelling, including several from the Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Competition.

Amanda lives in Ohio with her husband and a ginger cat named Weasley. She is just as comfortable curling up on the couch watching Hallmark Christmas movies as she is bungee jumping off bridges in New Zealand.

About Ashley

Ashley is a full-time travel writer, tour guide, World War II historian, and graphic designer based in Boston, Massachusetts. She splits her time between her two travel blogs—My Wanderlusty Life and Destination: WWII—and designing museum exhibits for history-focused institutions around the country. She’s also a leading Oktoberfest expert and spends an entire month each fall leading hundreds of people on tours around Germany.

Ashley lives in Boston with her husband and two feline sidekicks. When she’s not traveling, she’s at home watching either WWII documentaries or cheesy sitcoms (and nothing in between); at the alley working on her consistently mediocre bowling average; or planning, recovering from, or writing about her latest adventures.
